O Centro Cultural da Caloura (CCC), através da plataforma TEIA (softlab), convida artistas nacionais e internacionais a se candidatarem à edição de 2025 da residência artística FOI AQUI!, a decorrer na vila de Água de Pau, ilha de São Miguel, Açores, Portugal.

Período de residência: 10 a 23 de agosto de 2025

Sobre a residência

A Residência Artística FOI AQUI!, convida artistas a explorarem a paisagem natural da ilha e as narrativas comunitárias da Vila de Água de Pau, culminando numa exposição coletiva ao lado de obras da coleção do CCC – incluindo nomes como Vieira da Silva, Domingos Rebelo e Paula Rego.

Inspirada na expressão local “Foi aqui que a porca furou o pico?”, a iniciativa estimula a criação artística contemporânea em contexto insular, incentivando abordagens inovadoras que reflitam sobre a relação entre arte, conhecimento e natureza, promovendo práticas conscientes e colaborativas que reforçam o CCC como um polo cultural inclusivo.

FOI AQUI!

    • Artistas com idade igual ou superior a 18 anos.

    • Artistas nacionais e internacionais, individualmente, que não sejam naturais ou tenham residência na ilha de São Miguel.

    • Todas as áreas de expressão artístico-visual são bem-vindas.

    • Local hosting and transportation (including pickup and drop-off at João Paulo II Airport, Ponta Delgada). Flights are not included in the support offered and must be arranged and funded by the applicant.

    • Shared room accommodation with access to a kitchen, bathroom, garden, and sea view.

    • Workspace provided.

    • Program of cultural and ethnographic tours around the island.

    • Participation in local festivities and traditional craft workshops.

    • Materials for the development of the artwork (up to €250 per artist) and a €15 daily per diem.

    • Bicycle for getting around the village of Água de Pau.

    • Mentorship program with individual guidance and group presentations.

    • Final exhibition at the CCC gallery and exposure through media and social platforms.

The Caloura Cultural Center (CCC), through the TEIA (softlab) platform, invites national and international artists to apply for the 2025 edition of the FOI AQUI! artist residency, taking place in the village of Água de Pau, on São Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal.

About the Residency

The FOI AQUI! Artist Residency invites artists to explore the island’s natural landscape and the community narratives of the village of Água de Pau, culminating in a group exhibition alongside works from the CCC collection – including pieces by Vieira da Silva, Domingos Rebelo, and Paula Rego. Inspired by the local expression “Foi aqui que a porca furou o pico?” ("Was it here that the sow pierced the peak?"), the initiative fosters contemporary artistic creation in an island context, encouraging innovative approaches that reflect on the relationship between art, knowledge, and nature. It promotes conscious and collaborative practices that reinforce CCC as an inclusive cultural hub.res, Portugal.

    • Artists aged 18 and over.

    • National and international artists, applying individually, who are not from and do not reside on São Miguel Island.

    • All visual and artistic disciplines are welcome.
